Some people think Karate is all about smashing bricks, tournament fighting and winning trophies. Some people think that Karate is about marching up and down kicking, punching and shouting! Some people think Karate is about doing spectacular gymnastic leaping, spinning kicks. Some people think they are too old or unfit to learn! |

We don't! |

This is not sport karate. This is not 'schools' Karate. Shinseido Shorin Ryu (normally abbreviated to Shinseido for convenience) is a practical no nonsense self-defence system rooted in an old Okinawan family tradition (Matsumura Seito). It may look similar to other systems in its initial stages but within a handful of years it begins to transcend that elementary and simplistic level to become a totally functional and meaningful system. |
There is no competition (except with yourself). No acrobatics. No high kicks. No nonsense. Shinseido is a pragmatic and utilitarian life-skill practiced by men and women of all physical abilities from about the age of fourteen. Its practise promotes health, confidence, self-esteem, and self awareness. |
Shinseido embodies reliable self-defence applications (jutsu) and also personal development training (do), leading to self realisation, harmony with others and a way of life providing a true sense of purpose. |
Shinseido is not a method of fighting; it is a method of self-defence. It is not about how to fight, but about how not to fight. It is not about how to win, but rather, it is about how not to loose. Our primary purpose is not in mastering Shinseido technique, rather our ultimate goal is to discover a way of life through our art cum science. |

Do you already practise karate? Have you been practising karate for years but have become disillusioned with the lack of depth and meaning of your system? Are you an instructor who wants to learn the real meanings behind the techniques and kata that you practise? |

| If you are ready to empty your cup and embark upon the study of a genuine and authentic system you will not have any regrets. You will not have wasted your time investment in what you have already been doing because it will form part of your experience base, establishing the foundation of a much more meaningful system with great depth. There is nothing to loose but much to gain. | ||||||||||
