The Shindo Trust incorporating The Institute for Research into the Management of Aggression (I.R.M.A.) specializes in the provision of the Project 5 Peaceful Response System training programme.  Established in 1976, it was the first holistic training package in the management of behaviour that challenges (including aggression and violence), offered to professionals in the UK.

The training is oriented specifically towards people working in the caring professions, equipping nursing staff, carers and support workers with peaceful and empathic strategies for coping with behaviour that challenges.

.

Project 5 trainers are specialists in training staff teams working with people with learning disabilities in staffed residential houses and day centres, people with mental health issues, adolescents and the elderly.

The training emphasises preventive and pro-active approaches and (subject to the needs of the group, lest a crisis approach has to be taken), the use of personal safety, breakaway, releasing, guiding, protective intervention strategies that provide carers with non-harming and caring responses in the event of violent assault until a successful pro-active approach may be identified and initiated.

The physical intervention strategies disseminated within the Project 5 system are the most peaceful and caring in existence.

Project 5 is delivered primarily, as a three day course although shorter courses are also offered depending upon specific requirements.  Every course is unique, and delivered to meet the service provider's precise needs within the Project 5  framework.

Every day you should reach out and touch someone.

People love human touch - holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.
