Typical Training Courses

I.R.M.A. offers the following Project 5 courses:

Three Day Standard Course

This training package covers all the principle aspects of managing behaviour that challenges the service.  It is the current standard training required for all staff working directly with the service user.  Click here for a more detailed description.

One Day Introductory 'Comfort' Course

An introductory overview of the management of challenging behaviour and an ideal way to get staff through basic training where they will be introduced to the Project 5 Peaceful Response System.  Good for complete novices, in all areas of work whether working directly with the client all the time or not.  Engenders higher levels of confidence in everyone's ability to manage a wide range of situations.

Two Day Management of Aggression Course

This training package is recommended for all staff including those who have completed the 'Comfort Course' and more specifically, for carers and managers who work directly with the service users.  This is a more comprehensive version of the `Comfort Course`.

One Day Management of Aggression: Update Course

Exclusively for those who have completed the two or three day `Management of Aggression Course`.  Recommended for staff at least once a year.  This training outlines current trends in thinking and raises the participant's skill level.

One Day Special Needs Course

Particularly useful as part of house induction training and for residential teams where one or more service users present special problems that are perceived to lie outside the scope of the other training packages.
