Philosophical meaning:
Metaphor: Change just is.  Our perceptions of change and of difference destroys our peace of mind.  A student will often say to me, “Why is this move performed in this way?  It is awkward and difficult, why can’t I do it another way?  Of course we have to know that the technique is mechanically and therapeutically sound, however, beyond that, maybe there are some things in existence that can jar if we allow them to.  Our perceptions are often responsible for our discomfort.  Some things simply ‘are’.  There is sometimes no explanation, no reason, no full understanding of a situation or thing.  It just is that way because it is.  It is very easy to fall into the trap of trying too hard to make sense of the inexplicable.  People don’t always act in the way we would like them to behave.  Rather than fight this and begin to complain, if the behaviour does not actually impinge upon anyone’s rights then maybe we can allow the behaviour and accepting things for what they are.  It is through this process that we can discover more than if we had fought against the behaviour.
