Suzanne Stewart
(Shinsei dojo, Riverhead, Sevenoaks)
What is your martial arts history?
I started training in Taekwondo with Edmund Chow when I was 13 years old.    When I started training in Shinseido in November 2002 my earlier training helped me to log and assimilate information more quickly.
What aspects of Shinseido drew you initially?
The friendly atmosphere.  The style suited me more than any other I had seen and I was drawn to the challenge.
What about Shinseido holds your continuing interest?
The continuing challenge, the varied aspects of Shinseido particularly kata and kobudo.  The
fact that it is constantly evolving means it is never boring.  It is nice to see how people with different qualities, abilities and strengths are able to be individuals within the system.
What is your favourite kata and why?
I haven't really got one specific favourite.  I like and enjoy them all.  A favourite part of my training is kata
What are your dreams and aspirations regarding Shinseido training?
My ambition is to learn the system in depth and then to teach in my own dojo one day.
Personal
I have three young daughters, Rebecca, Bethany and Victoria - hence the difficulty in getting to the dojo to train more than i do, but I do lots of practise at home. :-)
